Short Bio: I am a 49 year old native Southern Californian, born in
Pasadena. I have worked with wood all my life (my father taught woodshop) but only recently began working on the lathe (December '05). To support my woodworking addiction I work for Disney Imagineering designing theme park rides. |
| 04-00-05-Black_Locust_Bowl-01.jpg = Turned April '05. 3-1/2" wide, 1-5/8" tall, sanding sealer & wax finish. I thought it was dry wood, but it has deformed 1/8" at the opening. This was nice wood to turn - the first piece I actually purchased as opposed to digging out of the woodpile. I was nervous! | ![]() |

| 05-01-05-Olive_Bowl-02.jpg = Turned May '05. 6-1/4" major diameter by 3" max height, about 3/16" thick. Sanding sealer and wax finish. My second attempt at a natural edge bowl. The first was as Don Comer was showing me how to make my very first bowl (pretty awful!). The wood is from a tree removed from the central hub of Disneyland because it was blocking the view of the Castle! |

| 12-00-05-Elm_Bowl-02.jpg = Turned December '05. The wood is Elm from Steve Dunn. 7-1/2" wide, 3-1/2" tall. This is the first piece I turned on my new/used lathe - a 1999 Oneway 2436 - I'm in heaven! I didn't have any particular shape in mind as I was just drooling on the lathe. It wasn't until I was finished that I realized I like the shape upside down better than right side up! |

| 01-16-06-Elm-Bowl-01.jpg = Turned January '06. I've been turning about
13 months now. This piece is 6-1/2" diameter by 4" tall and about 1/4" thick. Two coats of Danish Oil so far. The wood is Elm from Steve
Dunn. I don't care for the vertical symmetry of this piece, but the wife loves it and talked me into including it! |
