Artist's Statement

My creative focus is giving a block of wood a notable identity… This quest motivates me to create a visually compelling abstract sculpture. Bestowing upon the wood an elegant yet elusive character thereby, providing it a memorable attribute.

My inspiration comes from human creations vs. those of nature…I seek images that stimulate me to explore the fusion of a two-dimensional image into a three-dimensional sculpture. Thus begins the process of integrating a block of wood with its own spirit.

Title: The Wedge Dimensions: 10'/z" high x 9"wide x 3" deep Materials: Bleached Maple & Chac Te‑koke Narrative: "The Wedge" processes a mathematical purity, utilizing linear and geometric shapes that are receptive to shadows.

Title: Inter Circle Dimensions: 15" high x 15" wide x 2" deep Material: Bloodwood Narrative: I strived to give this piece it's potency by creating a visual balance with tension.

Title: Tranquility Dimensions: 17" high x 15"wide x 2" deep Material: Padauk Narrative: My "Tranquility" piece is and abstract form with no direct reference to external or perceived reality.

Title: Within Dimensions: 15" high x 13" wide x 4" deep Materials: Bleached Mahogany Narrative: I focused on multi‑axis to purposefully create a geometric shape that relies essentially on light and shadows.
